2011 BAFTA Long List

Today the British Academy announced the nominations for the Film Not in the English Language as well as the long list for many other categories. These are the nominees in above category.

Film Not in the English Language

Biutiful
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
I Am Love
Of Gods and Men
El Secreto de sus Ojos (The Secret in Their Eyes)

To read the official announcement please go here. I’m very glad that the Swedish movie is being honored at this prestigious award, but can’t deny that is a surprise.

The following is the long list for some categories; remember that the list is the result of Round One voting by Academy members. This year 207 films were submitted and the first round reduces the list to fifteen in each category. Round Two voting will reduce these fifteen contenders down to five nominations in each category, if applicable. Over 6,300 members of the Academy will continue voting in Round Two but in Round Three, only will vote for Best Film, the four performance categories and Film Not in the English Language as in other categories winners are voted by specialist Chapters.

This is the long list.  Black Swan and The King's Speech are the lead films on long list, which is good for change; let see what happens when nominations are announced.
